Why are all the drop-down menus closing almost immediately?
Every time I try to use a drop-down menu to find a bookmark, or even to place a bookmark I'm adding, in a folder, the menu will just close!! Sometimes it's immediate, sometimes it take 5 or 10 seconds, but never enough time to find what I'm looking for...

Hi Steven, I'm also using Firefox on macOS, but I've not experienced what you are describing. If you close Firefox, then start Firefox in Safe Mode, does the problem still occur? To start in Safe Mode, go to Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, then you can disable your extensions one-by-one until you find out which one is causing the problem. For more info, visit Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.
OK, I restarted in safe mode, and immediately tried to edit a bookmark, and a few seconds after the menu opened, it shut right up, and several times, when I clicked on bookmarks, to edit, or to create, or even search for a bookmark, it wouldn't even up for a few seconds! What could be going on here?? This is incredibly frustrating...
Try to use the Bookmarks Manager (Library) if you have a problem with the drop-down menu.

I've done that already, and all it did was lose every tab that was supposed to still be in OneTab, but wasn't, after I refreshed Firefox. It's driving me crazy today, constantly going "unresponsive", freezing, running up gigs & gigs of my RAM, I can't even erase parts of the history, without it freezing up. And every time I've tried closing Firefox, it stalls, freezes, and won't close, even after all the windows are closed, without me having to force quit it. It's been a terrible mess, since this last update...

It shouldn't be behaving that way by default. Steven, let's try re-installing Firefox. Could you try the instructions in the following article: How to download and install Firefox on Mac Specifically, you need to drag the application from inside the disk image to the Applications folder, then run Firefox from the Applications folder.

Not sure this is all that relevant, as it seems to be solely for when you want to open several bookmarks in tabs, at the same time. Something I can't recall every wanting to do. If it also keeps the bookmark file menu open, until closed manually, then that would help my issue. I thought it was fixed, as I was able to scroll through a menu once or twice without it closing, but then the next one, and all subsequent ones, have just been closing up, or not even opening....

I thought about reinstalling it, and seeing if that would help. I will, and report back...
You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

I don't know why it's acting so crazy, and this isn't happening with any other browser, just Firefox. Nor do I understand why it uses so very much RAM (currently at almost 8 Gigs, but has been as high as 12), and is so stubborn at times about not closing without having to force quit it.
I keep trying each new update, hoping these issues get addressed, but it doesn't seem to get better.

I've done that as well, not too long ago, and it didn't seem to make any difference. It was before I had this issue with menus refusing to stay open, but more about it using so much RAM, becoming unresponsive, not shutting down, when I try to close it, etc. Those issues remain with each new version. Maybe it will work better when I begin using the new iMac I just bought, hopefully it will..
Are you running any third-party software, such as the following:
- security software, firewalls, or internet safety
- virus or malware checkers
- backup or disk utility or cleaner software
If yes, can you provide the names of those software products?
Not running any special security software, although did recently add Malwarebytes, mainly because of this craziness, believing it may have been caused by malware, so I know the app didn't cause what's happening. And I do have CCC, and of course Apple's Time Machine, as well as Cocktail & Onyx. But can't think of anything that was installed very recently, yet before the issue with all the dropdown menus. Plus, I don't have that problem with any of the other three browsers I use.

The "Edit This Bookmark" dialog that opens if you click the highlighted star has a checkbox with "Show editor when saving" (shortcut key in the dialog is Alt+S). This item is at the bottom just above "Remove Bookmark" and "Done".
