Thunderbird freezes when I try to open Preferences

I am on a Mac Catalina and Thunderbird freezes every time I try to open Preferences. Even when I force quit it now, it is stuck on that tab and when I restart Thunderbird it is still frozen with the spinning ball. Anything I can do short of deleting and reinstalling Thunderbird?
