THERE IS AN INSTRUCTION TO UPGRADE TO LATEST VERSION. IN ORDER TO MIGRATE SAVED PASSWORDS THE MASTER PASSWORD NEEDS DISABLING. I CAN SEE ONLY AN OPTION TO REMOVE THE PASSWORD. THIS MEANS ALL SAVED PASSWORDS ARE ERASED. THIS IS NOT THE INTENTION. AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

Please look on you keyboard. There should be A KEY TO CAPITALIZE TEXT. You don't need to press it all the time.

And yes this is the intention. You need to disable your master password to migrate. And disabling the master password erases all your passwords apparently. Many people had this problem today.

Big brain time in Mozilla Headquarters this year. I think the virus killed the good ones...

Thanks for speedy response. I do not understand your comments regarding "CAPITALIZE TEXT". Why is this relevant to the Password issue?

Also, Mozilla must be aware of this serious erasure issue. Is there a way of contacting them directly? I could not find a 'contact button' on their site. Many thanks,

Hi

This guide should help you to turn off the primary password in Firefox for Android.

No helpful advice. I do not wish to remove the master password. I wish to temporarily disable it so that existing passwords are not lost when syncing to the new Firefox on other devices.

Seburo or someone, please -- I may just delete Firefox and write them off as untrustworthy for releasing this update thing that enables anyone with my phone to easily see all my saved passwords (short of fingerprint-like device security, which I find annoying). I simply want to enter a primary password, like the old master password. I looked at your link above (which is for the old "master" password system). I clicked the three-dot menu on the bottom of my Android S7 phone, and then settings, but there is no "privacy" option and I have looked through every settings option, and found no place to enter a primary password. How, anyone?

(I briefly downloaded the Android Firefox Lockwise add on, but it seemed useless --it suggested device security, but I don't see that it allows entry of a primary password in Firefox-- and redundant, since I was easily able to sync the saved passwords from my PC, where they are protected with a primary password, unlike my phone.)
