Whenever I open Firefox I'm asked to download impression.link. It's keeps popping up even though I cancel. I've tried saving it to make it go away but each new tab I open in Firefox browser I get the same all over again. Impression.link pops up and asks whether I want to save or run it. I've never had this before and it's extremely annoying as I don't know if it's a threat. Do you know what this is and how do I stop it.

Soluție aleasă

Thanks for the reply. I have Firefox as my only browser, so, yes, it's set as default. I also have the latest version 87.0. I've also blocked all pop-ups, but I did notice in 'Privacy and Security' that Firefox had changed the HTTPS-Only Mode' set to 'Don’t enable HTTPS-Only Mode' so I changed it to 'Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows' and it seems to have done the trick.... plus got rid of the advertising on and bordering around pages. Lets hope it stays that way.

Does this still happen if you set another browser as the default browser in case Firefox currently is the default browser ?

You can do a malware scan just to be sure.

Another user also posted about this appearing on MSN. I wonder whether they made a change to the site that is causing this problem. Or perhaps it is an interaction with an add-on?

That's good to know. My default page is nine.com.au.... which is MSN. I don't have any add-ons except for HTTPS everywhere. But I think my problem is now solved after making sure in the Privacy and Security setting that I enabled 'Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows'
