icons on address bar
Running Firefox 89.0 for a few days. Address bar is icons only, which I despise. Earlier versions allowed text + icons, text only. How do I change icons to text in 89? Edit 6/13/21 -- any ideas anyone?

Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars {web link}
Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar.
Note: about:customizing is no longer present in Firefox v47+ releases.
- Press Alt or F10 to bring up the Menu Bar.Then View > Toolbars > Customize.
- Right-click on a blank spot in the toolbar and select Customize.
Look for Show / Hide Toolbars at the bottom left.
There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.
FredMcd -- your suggestion appears to be valid only for versions of FF prior to 89
What action did you try?
Oops, sorry. I use a Legacy add-on for that.
Still need a good solution, please.
Since Firefox 57, you have needed custom style rules in a userChrome.css file to show text labels with or on place of icons. Have you been doing that in recent versions?
The author of the legacy Classic Theme Restorer extension has a repository of style rules you can check out here:

Yes, I've used and updated the .css rules. As you can imagine, the file got to be pretty confused. When it became apparent that virtually none of it was going to work with v89, I deleted the contents, expecting to start over. My wife's computer is still pre-v89, so I can copy the file from it, but I need some idea of what to look for as I am not conversant with the rules for writing those things.
