Can't attach file from a message to a new one

I use Thunderbird on Linux 64-bit (official download from Thunderbird website). I have a large Inbox, a little bit more than 10000 messages, many with attachments, so my INBOX file is quite large. I connect to my server using IMAP, and messages get syncrohonized so I can work offline if necessary.

Many times (lots of them actually), if I send a messasge and grag and drop an attachment FROM ANOTHER MESSAGE in my Inbox (I can open it in the original message, no problem there), the moment I send this new message (or save it as a draft), it will tell me that the file is no longer available for me to send. I then have to delete it in the composing window and attach it again. Sometimes I've had to do this several times and eventually the message will go through.

First I suspected it could be drive storage, but I've got plenty of it. Then I suspected it could be related to the INBOX file structure in my profile, so I repaired folder, but that didn't fix it either. A couple of days ago I deleted my account and set it up again. It was working fine until this morning TB asked to compact the file, so I did and the problem just reappeared.

I've come to a point in which I cannot use TB at all cause most of my daily work consists of paperwork in digital form that I get from clients and, once I get all files from them, I build a lone message and send it to the government agencies I work with.

People in my office using Windows don't seem to be affected by this. I'm the only one using Linux and suffering from this. I use Debian 11, and the problem seems to happen in the official TB package distributed in Debian, the one in Ubuntu which I installed manually, and also with the official TB package from mozilla website.

Anyone can help me with this?

Hola, Este es el foro de ayuda en español, puedes describir solo el problema, no me queda claro si mueves un adjunto (o varios) desde un correo recibido a un nuevo correo sin pasar por el disco de la PC (es decir sin descargar el archivo). ¿Que versión de Thunderbird utilizas? Una prueba es repetir el proceso en modo seguro para saber si algún complemento esta afectando el funcionamiento del Thunderbird:

  • Reinicia Thunderbird con los complementos desactivados (Thunderbird en Modo Seguro). En el menú de Ayuda, haz clic en "Reiniciar con los complementos desactivados...".

Si Thunderbird funciona bien, hay algún complemento o tema que interfiere en el funcionamiento normal de Thunderbird. Tendrás que volver a activar todos los complementos hasta que localices dónde está el problema. Saludos

Estoy utilizando la versión 102.4.1 descargada de la página web de Mozilla. El problema inicialmente lo detecté usando la versión distribuida por Debian 11, pero cambiar a la ultima versión oficial estable descargada de la página de Mozilla tampoco lo ha solucionado.

Por el momento estoy usando Mozilla sin complementos instalados. Tampoco uso temas. He pobado en modo seguro aun sin tener nada ajeno al programa instalado y sigue fallando.

Siguiendo con las pruebas, decidí descargar la versión de 32-bits por si acaso, pero también sigue fallando.

He iniciado TB desde el terminal (no se me había ocurrido antes), y al primer fallo esto es lo que me ha salido en el terminal:

Entity: line 5: parser error : EndTag: '</' not found <pdf:Producer>þÿ <pre> ^

EDITADO: Aunque este error sale, no está relacionado con el problema. Me ha salido el mismo error en otros mensajes en los que si he podido enviar si problema.

Parece ser que TB guarda los adjuntos que arraastro desde un correo a otro nuevo en /tmp/pid-`pidof thunderbird` . El problema radica en que algunos de los adjuntos que arrastro NO se guardan en ese directorio, por lo que al enviar el nuevo correo sale el error.

Finalmente he podido encontrar el problema, lo dejo por si a alguien le pasa lo mismo. AppArmor es el culpable. Desactivandolo el problema ha desaparecido. Se que está no es la mejor solución, pero hasta que averigue como hacer que con AppArmor activado no falle, así se queda.

Desgraciadamente esto tampoco funcionó. La única solución ha sido pasarme a Betterbird. En su canal de soporte hablan de este bug en Thunderbird y como ellos ya lo han solucionado.

Prefiero no marcarlo como resuelto ya que cambiar a otro programa no considero que sea la solución al problema de Thunderbird.

Estoy viendo que Betterbird usa el código de Thunderbird y el mismo foro de bug que te pase, por lo tanto si descargaste la ultima versión de Betterbird y funciona, entonces el problema también estará resuelto en Thunderbird, la gente de Betterbird ayuda a resolver los bugs: "Fixes provided by the Betterbird project and integrated into Thunderbird to be released later"
