When I attempt to open the web site Newsbusters," it freezes-up. I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to get back to my desktop. It worked fine before, even as the latest version is installed. MS IE opens that site just fine.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

If not, see this: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/troubleshooting+extensions+and+theme...

Since last night, when I had the problem, I did nothing about "cookies" or anything else. One time when I attempted to open Firefox I got a continuous "hour glass" which froze up my whole computer. I could not even shut down the computer by the normal means to do a orderly shut down! What did I do? A cold reboot! (Turn power off, then turn power back on.)

And then this morning, 15 August, the problem simply went away. I do have a problem, in another web site, where the site is not completely opened. This is camcorder info:

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/

EDIT: Hummmmm, when I click on the above inbedded link, it opens just fine! But when I go back to my desktop, click to open Firefox and click on that web site, I get an incomplete opening, with a message:

No such pipe, or this pipe has been deleted September 14th, 2009 This data comes from pipes.yahoo.com but the Pipe does not exist or has been deleted.

End of edit...

Again, MS Internet Explorer opens it up just fine.

Gentlemen, I am very close to uninstalling Firefox altogether! The only advantage it had over Internet Explorer was a slightly greater speed and was better suited for certain 32 bit operations. (I have a Windows7 64 bit machine and a 64 bit Internet Explorer.)

Try to clear all the cookies and the cache. See Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox

cor-el,

Cleared everything, cookies and all, the whole nine yards, but "no joy."

If I click on the Camcorder info link given in my above message, it opens up fine, but if I click on Firefox from my desktop and the camcorder link given in my bookmarks, I get the same quoted message I gave above.

This is totally weird...

Is that bookmark a plain link or does it have extra GET data appended ?

How did you create that bookmark?

Does it work if you create a new bookmark to the main url of that site?

First of all, I got it to work!  :)

Thanks, cor-el!

The funny part is, it was brought over from IE "favorites" when I first installed Firefox.

What is funner still is, when did a copy/paste of the above web address into my bookmarks (deleting the old address) it began to work.

Now, a new problem:

Firefox randomly crashes when I go to the USAF Academy web site, especially when I attempt to download a HiRes photo or go through a photo album, showing recent activities of the cadets, especially my grandson who is a cadet there. When the crash occurs, I have it reported to management after I get "We are so embarrassed..." message.

The web site address is:

http://www.usafa.af.mil/

Is there possibly a problem with the 64 bit of Windows7 Ultimate OS?
