I am currently using Firefox 3.6.13. I would love to upgrade to the latest version.

When I try, I get a message from Firefox which tells me I don't have admin privileges and to contact my system administrator.

The thing is, I am the administrator of my mac book pro.

I was thinking of deleting Firefox and then downloading Firefox v 4 but I really don't want to have to recreate bookmarks, etc.

Can someone please help?

  • Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded.
