With 6.0, why is there no longer any indication that a site is secure? Even at sites using confirmed SSL, there's no longer that little safe "lock" symbol.

When making online purchases there's no longer any indication that a site is secure.

Previous Firefox versions always displayed that little lock symbol either in the address bar or at the foot of the page.

Even at sites that are confirmed SSL protected, there's no indication of this on the screen.

Soluție aleasă

In Firefox 4 and later you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.

The padlock only shows that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server.
So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL.
The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the How do I tell if my connection to a website is secure? on the left end of the location bar.

Just so you know, the Site Identity Button has existed since the Firefox 3.0 release in case you missed it the whole time.
