Helping a friend set up a new website- at the moment it's just a placeholder- but when you open it, the tab is blank. How does one populate the tab with the info we usually see?

Please post a link to the URL you are trying to access.

Also note if you are using a redirect, ensure the syntax is correct i,e; redirecting a blank link like this <a href="" target="_BLANK">Blank Tab</a> would open a blank tab.

Sorry, guess it did not come through in the original query.

it's www.majestic-amps.com

Thanks for asking.

Doesn't look blank to me!

I noticed you created the page in a Microsoft Office application. For best results in Firefox and other non-Microsoft browsers, you should explore the "Web Options" and try to disable VML. That isn't always easy to find. If you indicate what application you're using (e.g., Word 2003, Publisher 2003), people may be able to help more. Also, when experimenting, avoid using the compatibility setting for Netscape Navigator, as that will insert ancient nonstandard code.

Edit: Oh, the title of the page is "Blank". Your editor probably has a dialog to enter the page title and other metadata.

Ok, so from what I can see the page body loads fine but you are having issues with the "tab title"?

If this is the case please update the page source, you will find this line "<title>Blank</title>" replace "Blank" with the text you desire. This text should then show up as the "Tab title"

Also, a small tip, for web developing you might find page styles are easier to control via a .css file, using a .css file would also help in keeping server resource consumption down. (Just a tip)

Thanks, I'm sort of new at this, so I appreciate the advice!

You really need to use software (HTML editor) that generates W3C compliant HTML code.
MS Office (VML) code will only work in IE on Windows and not in other browsers like Firefox and Google Chrome used on other platforms.
You can see the not working VML code as green comments in the page source (Firefox > Web Developer > Page Source)

You can look at KompoZer if you do not have a suitable editor.

Good advice, thanks. But- before I knew any better, I created a website in MS Publisher (I know..) because I had a copy, I knew it really well, and it worked. Even in Firefox. I can see it didn't work as well as it could, but for the novice there seem to be- and "seem" is the key word here- not that many inexpensive, low learning curve and helpful solutions. Except for these forums, of course.
