the cursor backs up when posting a question so the words mispell
when posting a question in search box the cursor interrupts by going backwards or skipping spaces so the question is full of mispelled words

The problem happened anytime I used Thunderbird. A friend suggested I might be touching the touch pad without realizing it. That is exactly what I have been doing lately. So I disabled the touch pad and it is working fine now. Had to go to BIOS to do it as the function keys in the manual were not doing it.
Thank you. May be back again but hopefully not soon.

Hi edibel, is this a problem unique to this forum, or does it affect multiple sites?
Are you using any special input devices, such as voice command, non-standard trackballs with extra buttons, etc.?
In case it's a conflict with one of your add-ons, a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode (Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If the site works correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
Any change?
In the past such issues with a sticky cursor have been reported to be caused by Java applets that run in another tab, but your system details list doesn't show the Java plugin.
My problem occurred nearly every time I did a search so yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I have no add-ons and only 2 plug-ins: Acrobat and Shockwave Flash. However, even while typing this the cursor has left or jumped down a line and finished the word.
I had not experienced this until about a month or so ago. I w.as using Chrome so got rid of that and went back to Firefox. Do you see the periou od above in was?? That just happened while typing so had to drop back toee the sentence I had been typing and now you will see several errors in the abov
What could this be? Thanks for your response. I was hoping re-loading Firefox would take care of it. Not sure what you mean by Firefox Safe Mode.
Edibel
Firefox Safe Mode is a mode that disables some Add-ons (Extensions) and overrides some custom settings. In my earlier post, I described the steps to test how Firefox works in Safe Mode.
As far as I know, this site doesn't do anything fancy while you're typing, so the cursor should not move by itself.
Could you try slowly typing each of the keys on each row of the keyboard, starting from Q? Can you see any pattern for the cursor moving, e.g., intervals of time, position in the textbox where you type, etc.?
