I want to remove BigDadSearch.com from my pc. Did not choose it, it came in with an update.

Seems a Windows or Microsoft service pak came in some time ago, and voila!, I had BigDadSearch automatically in my Firefox at startup, and using the "tools" options restore home page does not stop it. I have today downloaded a new, current version of FF, bigdad still comes up. I don't know where to find this to uninstall it. The address that comes up is: domains.googlesyndication.com/apps/domainpark/ and the title is "BigDadSearch". It's homepage display is a list of porno stuff to go to. PLEASE help me get this garbage out of my computer!!!!!

Does the issue occur in Firefox Safe Mode?

Firefox Safe Mode

Try running a complete scan for viruses, malware and bad registries.

If this was installed from a Microsoft update, than it is not an official update and was a scam downloaded from a bad source.

Report the issue to Microsoft.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

Note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.

The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there. You may want to check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so involved preferences can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

Thanks for your help; doesn't seem as though searchreset eliminated BigDad, still have to go thru tools to get FF homepage up.

I'm very NOT technical, don't know where to find profile you mentioned to locate user.js file. Will you tell me, please, where to find it?

Have looked thru what I know to look at, find nothing referencing "BigDadSearch" OR googlesyndication.com/apps/domainpark/ . Have you heard of it?

Thanks again.... Sackettwife

Apologies to Cor-el, didn't realize proper name wasn't at start of message.

Did you check the user.js file and possibly delete this file?

You can rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.

@cor-el

Using the SearchReset extension will only hide the effects of the issue, it doesn't actually fix it.
