Why VLC plugin always take precedence over Media Player Plugin
I've installed VLC in my Windows 7 OS. In the Windows OS, I've installed Firefox with Microsoft Media Player Plugin v1.0.0.8, VLC also has a plugin registered in Firefox.
When I access a web site playing video streaming (.asx), I found that Firefox always load the VLC plugin but it won't able to play. Is there any way to instruct Firefox to load Microsoft Media Player Plugin v1.0.0.8 instead of VLC plugin? I can play the stream normally if I disabled to the VLC plugin, but I cannot disable VLC plugin since there is another web application requiring to use VLC for application use.
Please advise.
Thanks, Harry.

Have you tried the instructions below.
Please update to the current Firefox 23 release.
- Help > About Firefox
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/update-firefox-latest-version.
The Firefox 14 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.
- It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest version to get all security fixes.
That is how VLC work in a lot of cases as has been my experience in the past, so I stopped using the VLC plugin because of that. It always tried to over take all possible MIME types and is hard to set up.
Maybe you can set VLC as click-to-play (Always Ask).
