How can my password be saved without having to enter it on my computer every time I want to look at or send an e-mail

Every time I try to read my E-mails or send an E-mail, I have to enter my password. Is there a way my password is automatically saved so I do not have to constantly enter this information ?

At the password prompt pop-up there is a check box 'Remember Password'.
