How do I turn on a protected or privacy mode when not using the internet?
In Internet Explorer, there is a way to turn on the privacy or protection mode so no one can access your computer through the internet.
Is this possible to do this in Firefox and if so, how?

By default,
- Only Mozilla sites may display a prompt to install add-ons (this prompt only appears when you personally choose to install an add-on).
- You normally can't install software from inside Firefox. .exe files can only be saved, not run directly. Once saved, they're scanned by your anti-virus.
- Malware and phishing protection is on.
You can further improve your security by using an anti-virus that factors file reputation into its detection routine, like Avast.
Firefox doesn't have a protected mode. If you can't do without it, you can try sandboxing Firefox with a third-party program like Sandboxie.
Private Browsing ("InPrivate" in Internet Explorer) has nothing to do with security.
