Dear developers, I have been using Thunderbird for many years. Yesterday, the version was updated to 128. However, the 2nd search bar appears to be missing. I generally dont use the search bar on top but the smaller one, where I see a list of all emails based on the search items without opening a new window. The Quick filter search bar opens a new window and its not really effective for me to search for emails.

Is there a way to get the old search bar back?

Thanks a lot, Best wishes, Martin

Not sure what you're talking about. Don't you have a search bar at the top of the main window? Also see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/unified-toolbar

Please post a screenshot illustrating your problem. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

UPDATE: Solution. I just found there is a toggle menu item VIEW; TOOLBARS; Quick Filter Bar. I don't remember *ever* toggling it off or even going into my View menu ever, so I don't know how it was turned off.

..... I have this too. There was, up till a few days ago, a "quick search" just above the messages pane (NOT the Ctrl+K search). I could rapidly search my messages for what I wanted to find. I find the global search (CTRL+K) to be a nuisance.
