I'm amazed a 16 year old computer even runs Windows XP. The system requirements for Firefox 3.6.x are listed as:

Minimum Hardware

  • Pentium 233 MHz (Recommended: Pentium 500 MHz or greater)
  • 64 MB RAM (Recommended: 128 MB RAM or greater)
  • 52 MB hard drive space
