Following a switch off and restart triggered I think by a Windows update, Thunderbird is not displaying any messages in my Inbox, though it is showing the number of messages in the Inbox title bar. 'Drafts' and 'Sent' all display correctly, but the 'Inbox' is blank with a grey icon of an envelope and the statement: "No message found". I am an IT novice. I looked on the 'help' pages. I have checked that no filters are set. I have right-clicked on the 'Inbox' title to display the menu with 'properties' at the bottom. I have clicked on that to bring up the dialog box with the "Repair" icon. It shows 'Inbox' in the 'Name' box but I note that the 'Location' box is blank. Presumably it should not be. Presumably it should show either the location of locally stored messages on my hard drive, or the location of the messages on the email server. I am not sure which. I have found the directory on my hard drive where I believe the messages are stored locally. The size of the file suggests to me that they are all there. The periodic 'Checking for new messages' is happening, but nothing is displaying, though a check via webmail shows that new messages are arriving on the server. Unread incoming messages are indicated by a little red dot within the Thunderbird logo icon in the Windows notification area. When operating with a Unified Inbox, opening those messages in the Unified folder does not always clear the red dot, nor does the unread message counter in the left pane always decrement properly. What it seems to take to reset things when this happens is to expand the Inbox tree and simply click on the account name associated with the unread message. Anyone else see this?

I have two profiles in my Thunderbird account. I want to create desktop shortcut for each profile. That way I can use the shortcut to get my email. On on profile I just want it to go straight to that account without asking for a password. On the other one I want it to ask me for a password. Is that possible and if so how can I do that?

I’ve got a minor but annoying Quick Filter button issue which just cropped up today out of nowhere, and haven’t been able to find an exact match for all these symptoms in any other problem reports.

Toggling my Quick Filter button works as expected, picking up the individual active filter buttons. However, in some instances of launching TB its on/off status indicator always displays as active regardless of individual filter button status. Weirder still, in other cases it always displays as inactive. It’s an intermittent problem, which always persists in one way or the other.

Further details:

- Problem is also present in safe mode, with the single plugin I use (CardBook) disabled.

- General display settings are “Theme Simple” and “Variant Normal” (not “Dark”).

- There are no automatic filters configured in “Tools > Message Filters”.

- Individual filter buttons are all working properly, including correct status indicators.

- Running current TB version (128.7.0esr 64-bit) on Windows 10 with all OS patches up to date.

An example:

Image 1: “Show only unread messages” button is active, and the Quick Filter button also displays as such (both indicators are correct).

Image 2: All individual filter buttons are inactive, yet the Quick Filter button still indicates a filter is active.

All fields in Account Settings (Account Name, Your Name, Email Address, Organization, Signature text) have gone blank. I keep entering the appropriate text in each of these fields but as soon as I close the Account Settings tab and reopen it, they all disappear.

Hi there I am not getting my emails and a dialog box appears and asks me to sign in when proceed with my user and password that is correct it does not connect to the server and now it doesn't even give me the option it just says thunderbird connection to server has timed out. Can someone help me with this problem please.

I am trying to whitelist a domain name. TB won't let me do that. This company has a plethora of emails. I don't want to whitelist every single one of them. That would take me days. It is impractical. I want to whitelist the domain name which is concentrix.com. I want to ensure that all emails coming from that domain name land on the inbox folder. How can I do that on TB?

Once I got Thunderbird installed only the default account (the first one I added to Thunderbird) was on the right hand pane. I have set up 4 accounts and I cannot get to any of them. I Googled and tried all suggestions which seem possible.

Can anyone help me find my other accounts?

My Outlook account has folders that are archived on Microsoft server. I cannot access them from Thunderbird. How do I import these folders? I do not want to re-create them again in Thunderbird if possible.

I am setting up Thunderbird for the first time. Do I need to have Mozilla and Firefox set up first or is that irrelevant? I keep getting "unable to log in" messages and cannot go any further in the Thunderbird set up.

I can't find any reference to this and have stopped using one of my email accounts...and need to have outbound invites go through another one. I thought changing the "default" email address (which I've done successfully I believe) would do the trick but it doesn't. Thoughts?

I have T-bird version 128.7.0esr (64-bit) on both my desktop Dell and my laptop Dell. On the Desktop I have a message filter for removing common sources of spam/junkmail to the Trash. I tried to make that filter available by copying the msgFilterRules.dat file in the Imapmail folder of my desktop's T-bird profile under AppData/Thunderbird (I have a Windows 11 Enterprise OS...the laptop is Windows 10 Enterprise OS) to the Imapmail folder on my laptop's T-bird profile. After this copying process was done (with T-bird not running on the laptop) I loaded T-bird on the laptop, but the filter on the desktop did not appear under filters on the laptop. Note: while the email account for both T-bird installations is the same, the *profile name* is different. Perhaps that is the source of my problem. I *could* backup the T-bird installation on my desktop and then use that backup to install T-bird again on my laptop. But I wonder if there is a simpler solution that preserves the bulk of what is on each of these two T-bird installations?

I cannot see any folders, and consequently any e-mails, in any of my email accounts. All I get when I log in are the mail accounts that I have. If I try to open a sub folder in that account, e.g. Inbox, I am told that it already exists. I cannot expand the account to view the emails that I have.

How to fix this issue.

I copied my Thunderbird profile from an old Win 10 computer whose motherboard was failing, and I managed to get the profile copied before I completely lost access. Now I no longer have access to it. I did not use Mozilla Backup. I downloaded Thunderbird on a new Win 11 computer. On the new computer, I set up Thunderbird. Then I deleted the new profile and pasted the old profile. Now Thunderbird will not open at all. It says, "Your Thunderbird profile can not be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I have uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird, but I still get that message. How can I fix this? Thanks, Teresa

I am trying to set up Thunderbird and I get a message "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database". When I click done, I get "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration username or password" HELP! Prefer a phone call.

On a Windows 10 computer with TB Portable 128.6 and .7, folders can no longer be selected in the filters as ‘Run filter on’ or ‘perform these Actions’: the menu is greyed out. The phenomenon occurs with all accounts: POP and local. Various email providers, ESET virus scanner, Windows firewall, FritzBox cable router. The local account contains almost 30 GB of emails. The existing filters work as long as they do not affect the accounts or folders: for example, tagging e-mails works. Existing filters with folder-actions cannot be re-configured and no folder actions are possible when creating a new filter.

I have performed an update check and restarted Windows, changed the compression limit from 500 to 5 MB and changed a few minor settings so that the config is rewritten.

What could this be? How do I solve the problem? A workaround if necessary.

Thunderbird stopped working on my old Mac Mini (2014). I bought another used Mac Mini (2018), running on Sequoia 15.3, and hoped to install Thunderbird on it, but so far I can't. When I try to set it up, it says my account is recognized, but when I click done, I get the message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." I suspect it's the configuration. I tried my old Mozilla password, when that didn't work, I created a new one, but that didn't work for Thunderbird either.

My email comes from my ISP — AT&T — whose email service is powered by Yahoo. When Thunderbird stopped working on my old computer. I started using MyYahoo email (same email address), but I'd prefer going back to Thunderbird, which is much better for archiving and directing incoming email to folders I create.

Please help.
