"popstate-1.dat" and "popstate-2.dat" folders seem to be created after I had to forcibly shut down my old Windows Vista pc. I had to shut down the pc forcibly (meaning I had to turn off forcibly) as the pc went out of control. I just want to know if I can delete the folders. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much !!

The popstate.dat file is used to record which messages on the server you have already downloaded, so you don't keep seeing the same messages over and over. I guess it is most relevant if you use the settings to leave messages on the server, because if you use the default settings, it will download from the POP server and immediately delete the server copy, leaving very little for popstate.dat to do.

The numbers in these filenames indicate that these files are backups, so if you also have a popstate.dat they are most likely redundant.

I'd say delete them. The worst that can happen, AFAIK, is that you might see some older messages again.
