Cannot download email folders from TDS.NET
I am new to Thunderbird. Today I successfully set-up AOL and YAHOO. All associated folders and historical emails were downloaded. BUT when doing to same with my main email, TDS.NET I was only able to see my current emails in Thunderbird; no folders or historical emails were downloaded - - and this is my main address accounting for 95%+ of my emails. As an "old person" I am quick to point out that I must have done something wrong, but am not smart enough to figure out what. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Chosen solution
JOY! In Advanced settings, uncheck box "Show Only Subscribed Folders." And this morning all my folders, all my history appeared in total for my TDS.NET account. I've tested six or so and it's all there. I would not have tried that if your direction hadn't given me the courage to explore, Matt. MANY, MANY THANKS.

TDS IMAP mail settings are here http://settings.email/tds.net-email-settings.html Is that what you used?
Please add the troubleshooting information to your post so we can see just what setting you have used. To find the Troubleshooting information:
- Open Help (or click on three-line-icon and select Help)
- Choose Troubleshooting Information
- Use the button Copy to clipboard to select all. Do not check box "Include account names"!
- Paste this in your post.
Matt: thanks for the assistance. In answer to your question, I did not "use" any IMAP settings for TDS or AOL or YAHOO: I merely allowed the Thunderbird system to access my accounts and configure the settings. So, perhaps I need to adjust something. Here is the Troubleshooting data you requested. Again, my thanks.

Well Thunderbird guessed wrong.
Right click your TDS account in the folder pane, select settings and in server settings make the changes set out on the web site.
That is port 993 and connections security SSL
Thank you, Matt for your patience and persistence. I am attaching my updated Troubleshooting Information. FYI: there has been no change; I still cannot retrieve my folders from TDS.NET. Also, FYI, Thunderbird continues to retrieve my new messages timely and accurately. (As it does with my other accounts.) QUESTION: do you think I should contact TDS to see if there is some "setting" adjustment they can make at their end? Again, thanks.

Have you logged into TDS from your web browser and actually checked the mail and folders are stored there? I am wondering if your previous mail program (what was it?) was configured as POP and there is nothing on the server to get.
Happy Memorial Day, Matt. Yes, my mail and folders are stored on my TDS site. I use them daily but just to make sure, I chose several folders at random just now and was able to see emails from 2011 until today. So, yes, they are on the server. I've never used a "mail program" before, such as Outlook. Thunderbird is my first attempt. My incoming messages to TDS (who is my ISP and my Telco DSL provider) also appear in my gmail in-box (and now also Thunderbird). It is set-up as SMTP.gmail.com, port 465, SSL on the gmail site. All new emails appear on the TDS site, the GMAIL site and the Thunderbird site. The only issue seems to be the folders for TDS email; my other emails (such as AOL) are working 100% as planned. It really is a pain of sorts since I cannot move/save TDS mail to any of my existing folders. I've taken up enough of your time, for which I am grateful. Unless you can think of something else I need to do, I shall not bother you again. My thanks, Matt.
Matt: NEW DATA. My "ever-helpful" nephew showed me that I gave you "correct information" BUT not what you were looking for. GMAIL does "fetch" my emails using POP3. Is this getting in the way of downloading my folders to Thunderbird? Even though AOL, Yahoo etc. are set up the same way in GMAIL and they are working fine in Thunderbird? Curiouser and curiouser.

Preferable, is to leave that set to "show only subscribed folders" and actually subscribe to the ones you want.
Right click the account in the folder pane, select subscribe and put some ticks in the right boxes. You do not always want to see everything.
