Since updating to Firefox 9, clicking on bookmarks and navigating through the bookmarked sites takes much longer. What could be causing this?

If I click on a bookmark file, it can sometimes take over 5 seconds for the file to open. After opening and moving the cursor to a specific site, there is a delay highlighting and opening that site.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
