7-Zip 'system cannot find the file specified' not letting me download?
I'm about to throw my laptop to the other side of the room, run up to it and beat it with a baseball bat.
I had to reset my system because I got a virus earlier[completely annoying] and I tried re-downloading Firefox through IE.
First off, IE is complete cr*p. Second, I've gone to a lot of forums and pages trying to solve this issue. I keep getting this when I try to download. It hits a point and then:
"7-zip: The system cannot find the file specified" and then "Your download was interrupted"
I'm running Windows 8 on an Asus laptop.
Please help me solve this or I'm going to do something drastic. I can't live with Internet Explorer as my main browser. I just can't. Thank you.

If you are trying to install Firefox then try this:
Download and save the full Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.
If you're on Vista/7/8, try right clicking the installer and clicking Run As Administrator

I wonder if you've tried downloading from Mozilla's server.
Simply select your locale (en-US is default English) and download the "Firefox Setup 29.0.1.exe". Errors like this are generally solved by downloading from a different place. I don't have a Windows PC to test out if the files are okay.

Note that the Firefox installer is packed with the 7-zip archive program (self extracting file), so it sounds that something went wrong with unpacking the Firefox installer.
You may have to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to make this work. You can also try to clean up the Windows %temp% folder.
How do I clean up the temp file?
Doesn't work Moses. Again, I am unable to download at all. It's not a matter of where I download it, it's a matter of being unable to download it.
To follow cor-el's advice, simply go to Start > type %TEMP% and a new Windows Explorer window should pop up and show the files in the temp directory. There, you should erase everything off of it, then try to run the Firefox installer again.

Yeah, this sucks. I don't know what's wrong.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows to download Firefox.
Try to download the full installer of the latest Firefox release:

I know this is far from ideal, but what if you tried downloading Google Chrome and then through that browser try downloading Firefox.
Perhaps it is only Internet Explorer having a problem completing a download properly in your computer.
Okay, I'm downloading Chrome right now. So far I downloaded Comodo and Opera and it didn't work through there, so I'm not that hopeful for this.
I've also been trying to look up specific problems to my own, but I can't seem to find any.
I simply can't download Firefox because these messages pop up.
And apparently I also can't download Chrome. I'm guessing the problem is very internal.
When you download, you're just saving the file, and Windows/IE can't/won't even just save the file?
Is this downloading problem limited to .exe and/or .msi files? Just wondering whether if you could get the file in a ZIP or RAR archive or disguised with a different file extension, it might get past this problem.
