Using Mac 10.9.4 If I open Thunderbird, I can connect to my e-mail and download messages. If I then select "Get Mail" again, Thunderbird hangs, and fails to connect to my e-mails. If I then shut Thunderbird down and reopen it, I am able to connect immediately to my mail.

It seems to have sorted itself out after a few days. (Fingers crossed). So far today, it has worked properly. Will keep an eye on things for the next week and report back if it does it again.
