Using Firefox 32.0.3 in Windows 7 64b

If I click the minimize key (upper right) when I click on the Firefox key in the taskbar all of the tabs that were there disappear and cannot be brought back. Also, I have 2 sites I have set for starting when Firefox is open: one is my home page (using protopage) and the other is my e-mail for Google mail. Both tabs are set as locked and protected and the Google tab in addition is set for "pin". All of these settings are gone and Google mail is even missing after starting Firefox again. This does not happen if Firefox is closed and started again as everything that was on the browser tabs is just like it was when it was shut down. This is a fairly recent happening (last few months) as I don't remember having this problem previously. All of this is done using the Firefox button on the taskbar.

Any idea why Firefox does this for the minimize and not for the shut down?

Chosen solution

When you shut down do you have clear all data when you quit selected in the Firefox menu > Options > Privacy > under History?

Do you have remember tabs from last time for start up or your homepage?

If you quit, the session is removed, and the homepage will show, but if you just quit, Firefox shows the previous session? (just to clarify)

Maybe I need to make it clearer. The only time this happens is if I "minimize" using that option on the browser window. If I just stop Firefox (either using file-exit or just the X in the upper right corner which does the same thing) then everything comes back just as it was left when I start Firefox again.
