Why is Gmail showing two in-boxes?

I am sorry if I worded the question wrong. I do not know how to explain it.

For some reason, I have "two" inboxes for my gmail account. The regular "inbox" folder, and another grayed out folder listed as "[gmail]". How do I get rid of this? When I look at thunderbird, it says that I have 6 new messages. However, the 3 new messages in "inbox" is the same as the three new messages in "all mail."

Why is Thunderbird behaving this way?

I do not want this "[gmail]" folder. I just want my inbox, drafts, sentmail, spam, trash, and important folders.

Gmail is a bit special. You'll just have to learn to ignore these folders; they won't go away.

Personally, I don't subscribe the All Mail folder; by and large there is no reason to look at it.

Thank you for the help Zenos. You say you dont subscribe to the All Mail folder. When i try to unsubscribe from some of the folders, nothing happens. Is this normal with gmail too?
