I expect to receive emails to 5 different addresses. I want the emails to print on network printers that are related to those different addresses. ie - town1@domainname print on town1 printer, town2@domainname print on town 2's printer - etc. i saw that Thunderbird has an auto print capability but did not see the capability to select different printers for each rule and assumed that it just prints on the default printer.

You assume correctly.

If you have money to spend ofn the issue, you might get an add-on written to do that. But as it stands Thunderbitrd does not.

You might also get some value from the Filtaquilla add-on as it allows for javascript to be executed as a part of the filter execution. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/filtaquilla/
