Some auto upgrade happened about a week ago, and the nest time I started FF a red bar appeared which said my bookmarks and history would be unavailabe because some other application was using my database. I followed instructions and replaced the places.sqlite file. (twice) That did nothing. I deinstalled FF and reinstalled FF, but same problem. I had a backup of bookmarks taken in Feb 17 and tried to install them. NoGO. I brought up chrome and installed them ok. I triesd to import BM's from Chrome. No GO. What do I do. Can we uninstall the last auto upgrade?

This can happen in case another application keeps a handle (lock) on the places.sqlite database. So make sure that no (security) software is monitoring access to files in the profile folder.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
