Any outgoing e-mail with a dot org web address included in body of message appears in "sent" box but is never received by addressee. TIA
Removing the dot org web address from the body of the message will solve the problem; the intended recipient receives the e-mail. This is a recent change; we used to be able to send e-mails with a dot org URL in the body. If I change the dot org to dot com (a website address that really doesn't exist), the e-mail goes through.
This is very frustrating, and any help is much appreciated.

Have you spoken to your mail provider? Most of these sorts of failures are a result of brain dead anti spam features implemented either with your provider or the recipient. That Thunderbird says "Sent" without an error your providers outgoing server accepted the email as ok and presumably queued it for transmission. Only your provider would know however if they sent it or not.
The situation you are in is very similar to paper mail. You have written the letter, put it in an envelope with a stamp and dropped it in the post box. The post office did not deliver your mail.
