Since installing Mojave 10.14 if I right click on an email in Thunderbird the drop down menu (used to move, copy, mark etc.) repeatedly stops working.
Thunderbird 52.9.1 installed with Mojave 10.14. Since upgrading to Mojavew and when trying to move, copy, mark etc. an email using the right click on an email menu the drop downs soon stop working so not allowing the next part of the drop down menu to function. E.g. if I try to move an email I often get as far as say Local Folders and then the next menu does not drop down. A simple quit and restart solves it but the problem soon returns. The same problem is present if I restart Thunderbird in Safe Mode. I have deleted the plist file and restarted but that didn't work either. Any help/suggestions gratefully received. (I am definitely not a techie!)

I just received notification that an update for Thunderbird was available. Installed v. 60.2.1 and bingo! The drop down menu problem has been solved. Many thanks again Toad-Hall for your help with this and thanks to the very smart folk at the bug solving/code writing end of Mozilla. All very impressive. Please consider this one closed.

I searched for bugs regarding Mojave and a few issues with Mojave are being looked into. Please post issue as a bug here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/index.cgi?
Thank you for your reply Toad-Hall. I have absolutely no idea how to use Bugzilla and do not have an account there. It all looks very technical - I searched the bugs for both Thunderbird and Mojave and couldn't find anything. I guess I will just have to wait and hope some clever person sorts it out and comes up with a fix. I have now discovered that even when a drop down menu doesn't show I can still run the cursor down where it should be and the next menu sometimes pops up! Perhaps I will just have to migrate everything to Mac Mail. Thanks again for replying.
I'll put a report in for you.
Can you test to see if the same thing occurs in the current release TB version 60. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/
I just tried TB version 60 and the problem is still there. Exactly the same. After a restart the drop down menu system works fine until you move the cursor up and down trying to find a folder. Once you 'hunt around' and then go back to a higher menu the lower menus fail to appear. So I am trying to be careful and make sure I aim for the right folder first time! Thank you very much for your help with this and with the bug report.

Knowing if this issue is present in the latest version would be very helpful for those who need to test current releases.
Thank you Toad-Hall for escalating this into a bug report. You help and swift response is very much appreciated.

Cheers for the update. Can you confirm the version you are using in 'Firefox' browser and that Firefox is not showing any similar menu issues?
Currently on Firefox Quantum v. 62.0.3 Just had a good go at all and any drop down menus I could find and it all works fine.
That's good to hear. Many thanks for your assistance in this matter.
I just pulled the latest Thunderbird release from the download site and installed it. The problem is still there but I did notice that "About Thunderbird" still shows v52.9.1 despite the installer being labeled 60.2.1.dmg.
Correction. The new installer didn't overwrite the old application. Given that the old application was version 52.9.1 I have the feeling the updater may have been broken for a while. When I manually deleted the old version, and then reran the installer, I got the new version without issue and the problem is fixed.
I updated 52.9.1 to 60.2.1 and the update was textbook - absolutely no problem. The problem I experienced with 52.9.1 was no longer present in 60.2.1. Again, thanks for the swift response and help.
I have this problem too but when i try and install the 60. on my mac it tells me it is corrupt!! frantic!!

tropicaltoo,
Is "corrupt" the exact wording?
