been watching youtube and browsing generally. over the past couple of weeks firefox tabs have repeatedly been crashing; also firefox itself has been repeatedly crashing; also firefox reloads a tab when i move back to it after having gone to another tab - restarting videos for example; also i am getting dialogue boxes stating the i have run out of memory; also my vpn stopped connecting. i have reinstalled firefox and vpn (vpn now works); had the hardware checked and okayed by a dell tech; updated bios and drivers in an attempt to fix (dell tech did this), removed and reinstalled plugins - the problem still persists. please help.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

. . . firefox reloads a tab when i move back to it after having gone to another tab - restarting videos

I get around this by; When I find a link I want to check out, I open it in a new tab/window. Then when I am done, I close it and am back where I started.

Did you do a clean re-install?

Firefox will now detect if your computer’s memory is running low, which is defined as lower than 400MB, and suspend unused tabs that you haven’t used or looked at in a while. The new tab unload feature is controlled on the about:config page with a preference that you can set to false to disable this feature.

  • browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory = false

Are these crashes caused by out-of-memory (OOM) issues where not enough contiguous free memory is available?
