Collections deleted
Hello I am German and not used to write in english. I use Firefox on my Xperia device. Within the last Update I got the new function to collect the tabs. I created several collections and named them. After I put in the tabs and deleted them in the list. So they were only in the collections. Today I wanted to use one Tab out of the collection. But the whole collection Was not any more there, same with 2 Others! Where are these collections and the tabs now? I did not delete them and I need them.
Where are they and how can I use them again?
Kind regards
Mischa

Thank you for these open and direct words.
Better could I not answer...

Thank you for the sudden answer, but like FuddyDuddy wrote, please explain how to go forward.
I do not have other devices to export to...
I just want to be 100% sure when I now update there is no loss of data, settings or tabs.
Please tell me step by step what to do.
1) how to save all data in "today version" to recover in case of dataloss after update.
2) how to recover after dataloss to the today version...
3) how to do the update...
I will try it out and feedback here after.

You and send Collections to another copy of Firefox (such as on a desktop) and/or can save the individual sites as bookmarks and sync them to another copy of Firefox using Firefox Sync.
I can see no reason why you would lose this information in an update and you stand to benefit from keeping your copy of Firefox for Android up to date.
Ok so maybe useful suggestions but.... 1 how do you send collections to another device. Knowing about this in my case might have saved loss ....if known about in advance. Nevertheless I would have hoped, nay expected that things like collections would have been designed to be recoverable! Your information about "sending" has not appeared in collection instruction anywhere - unless of course I have not located it. Can you provide a link to the instructions please?
2 I have lots of bookmarks that I could potentially use to find the websites of my lost collections. However on this mobile version I have no idea how to see the bookmarks list in a presentable form it just appears as a great big long list maybe sorted somehow but not as I would wish such as chronologically or alphabetically or under the same categories as on desktop. Can that be done by a user?
Good of you to respond but I do feel no progress is being made.

Hi
The purpose of Firefox Sync is to be able to share bookmarks, password and other data with another copy of Firefox. It is not designed or suitable for online backup.
If you have sites open as tabs or in Collections saved as bookmarks and syncced to another copy of Firefox, you will have a seperate backup.
That said, I have never experianced data loss in an update to Firefox for Android, and I am using the early "Nightly" test builds.
Please tell me how to save my settings and all data before I update...
After weeks of waiting I can feedback here one good and several bad news.
Some days ago - months after my beg for help here - I was shocked about one more new outfit of Firefox.
So I tried out to add one more collection.
Also 4 more were possible. So I think it's now unlimited.
But!
As there were usually new tabs added UNDER the previous tab, after the new function "collections" new tabs were added OVER the previous...
As my next request here, to make tabs moveable as before, shows, it is long ago...
But I found out, when temporaryly deleting a tab, then undo moved the tab to the end of the tab list. In the last months over the last.
Now obviously an update was automatically installed...
Since then everything is vizeversa and confusing!
New tabs are added again UNDER the previous, but temporaryly delete & undo results in adding the tab UP the list!
So I have now to scroll 600 tabs Up and Down!
What the hell is that?
Changing Cholera vs Pest...
The further function, tabs with click & move change where you want them to have, is also disabled!
I want now my further version back, I can miss the fucking collections but not moving tabs up and down as I want!
Without losing one tab of these in my actual list!
Please explain Your thoughts here.
And Your experiences.
Kind regards,
Mischa

No one able to help?
After even more weeks without any reaction here, I have in an very uncomfortable way put all my 600 tabs into around 45 collections! Hours by hours it was a very very bad job.
The worst thing is, you cannot MOVE the tabs from the main list into a collection, no you have to put it in and after you have to delete it in the main list!
Imagine you want to check the mainlist searching all tabs f.e. to collect food links.
You find 30 and after you choose the food collection they are neither still marked in the mainlist nor nearby each other. So you have again to search for eyery single tab, to delete it also in the mainlist!
Now you want to use some tabs out of a collection. Not possible!
You have to open always tab by tab adding one new tab, search and scroll for the collection and click ONE tab to be opened!
Welcome back to deepest middleage...
Not better in use is the stony way to choose a collection in the list. Usually in other Apps the last used is on top of a list.
Not here! The first created collections are at the most far away end of the list...
Why is it not possible to choose the follow of the collections in the list by "last use", "date", "name" or "most used"?
Why is it not possible to jump by clicking a letter f.e. "f" directly to "food"?
One luxury problem is, to put tabs into several collections in same moment...
Similar is the problem to open several tabs out of a collection. All in same moment is possible. But not only some elected...
And last but not least it is important to copy or move tabs from one collection to others.
And please stop the stupid function (or malfunction) I described in my last reply concerning adding a new tab UNDER the last tab, but adding it on TOP of the (endless) list after deleting and undoing it!
Do it in both cases same!
Thanks for Feedback

I support your problems and posting about them. IMHO Collections are not worth the effort and the silence of the responses from Mozilla is deafening!
I am still german. Please tell it in common words and let me unterstand what you want to tell me... Communication chapter one. Sender Receiver...
I am sure I am able to give a 1:1 revenche in German, French, Swedish and Kölsch.
IMHO?
Collections are not worth the effort? In my eyes it is respectless as I decided to elect all my words together to this replies.
But much more important is, that Mozilla decided to add this function to Firefox. So Firefox should be more attraktive and comfortable in handling, use and safety.
I became a fan of collections but got disappointed as it is supported only with halfpower.

Apologies if I am not communicating very well. Poorly written by me in English......and I could not even attempt the other languages that you understand!
IMHO = In my humble opinion.
I am just trying to agree with the sentiments that you have written.
Collections may well be a good idea but they are prone to be lost if the user cannot back them up somehow. Bookmarks, logins and passwords are exceedingly useful as they can be synced accross devices thus effectively making a way to recover from disaster by re syncing. Collections are just potentially lost.
I am verry disappointed by this shortfall in functionality of Collections amd lack of response by Mozilla to solve the issues raised in your thread.
