I use canvas blocker so I need privacy.resist.fingerprinting to be set to false. I have repeatedly set it to false in about:config and by editing prefs.json and every time I restart firefox it resets to true. I have done a clean install of firefox, turned off and deleted every add on, and tried using a new profile but it has not cleared the issue.

Chosen solution

I'm not sure what the issue was, but I was able to solve it by

1. Go to about:profiles and open the folder for both the root and local directories, then take a step back in each so you're in .../firefox/profiles/ and not the folder for a profile 2. Quit and uninstall Firefox 3. Uninstall Tor Browser 4. If any files are in the profile folders, delete them 5. Install Firefox

I haven't tried reinstalling Tor Browser to know for sure, but I suspect that may have played a role in the issue.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
