Chosen solution

Disabled antivirus (Avira) and deleted latest emails without success. Once i deleted items from deleted folder was able to download messages. Restored Avira and was still able to download messages. Thanks Matt

This is usually caused by ANti virus programs that are not really coping with mail scanning.

Two possible cures.

1. Disable mail scanning in your anti virus product until such time as your mail has downloaded. on this occasion.

2. Log into web mail and empty the spam folder and see if that has removed the malformed mail that has the AV on the edge of it's seat. If not you will need to delete the next mail you have in your inbox after the last was received until it starts working again.

Personality I prefer 1 as you don't have to delete stuff randomly as you look for what is causing the anti virus program to drop dead on the job.
