In last 2 weeks I no can no longer skips ads on YouTube videos

Suddenly almost everytime I load a YouTube video I have to watch 2 - 4 min of ads, sometimes two in a row before the video starts. I no longer have the skip ad button. If I load the same link in Chrome or Edge I don't have this problem. My search engine is Duck Duck Go, but if I go to Google first and then to the video I still have the problem. I also have the Maleware Bytes ad blocker installed. Any suggestions?

Cor-el, thanx. That was the ticket. Troubleshoot mode solved the problem and I then checked my addons. It was Malewarebytes. I had to disable the ads/trackers blocking. Left the others on. It was preventing the little window from popping up that allows you to skip after 5 secs.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
