Chosen solution

I had a problem with Firefox freezing any time I went to a flash site since 3.6.4. I looked at my task manager and found the CPU idle and no plugin container.exe process running as it supposedly should be with versions after 3.6.3. Anyway, I disabled the plugin container function using the instructions on this website.

Everything running great since!!!! Now I can use flash :)

I hope this helps others.

In my case is Windows XP SP3. With Windows 7 ultimate x64 I had to disable the hardware acceleration to avoid freezing Firefox because of a green screen.

Same problem, 3.6.6 freezing on Flash sites.

Mine is just a tad different. Firefox freezes at random times. Additional tabs open seem to cause it more, but that is not the only cause.

Mine is running on Linux, and it freezes with flash sites.

Same problem. Linux 2.6.35-gentoo, Gnome 2.30, Mozilla Firefox

3.6.8, Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64.

If right click on flash object (youtube, jwplayer, other...) - menu of show and next - ALL GUI-application hang (firefox, desktop enviroment), until timeout (dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs) or until I kill firefox from console (Ctr+Alt+F1/F2/..).

Why freeze all DE?

When I would try to view a page which used 'flash' ,such as youtube, it would look like it was loading, then in about 2 seconds would reload. IE8 and Chrome were both OK. I uninstalled Flash 10.1 and re-installed 9.4.7 No problem since except it keeps wanting me to upgrade to 10.

Thanks so much Anonymouseuser. This fixed it. Ironic that the plugin Firefox used to prevent freezes actually causes freezes. This so fixed my problem. http://www.technogadge.com/how-to-stop-firefox-plugin-container-exe-process/

Hi,

To fix the problem with the add-on, you need to disable the add-ons installed in your Mozilla Firefox web browser.

You could also fix the problem due to Switch Proxy Tool by disabling it.

You need to click the Tools menu and then select Add-ons, Select the Extensions panel, SwitchProxy Tool and then click disable.

Your Mozilla Firefox may freeze or hang when you attempt to download or try to save images in your computer, this is caused due to the conflicts from the older files.

You can easily fix this issue by clearing your download history.
