Why am I no longer able to open a new tab online?

I have been able to open multiple tabs when online until a few days ago. When I click on a link it opens in a new tab, but I can't click on the new tab manually. Help. I don't like using internet explorer, but I am having to until I get Firefox straight.

This can a problem with the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
