New layout, will take some getting used to, but cool. BUT Want new window click Firefox V submenu flashes up & disappears flashes as mouse moves randomly Can click & get new window, new tab &c. (even if invisible at the time) Rather difficult to use. While sort of randomly flashing, most of the time the outline is there, menu content mostly not there, window behind displays instead. Interestingly, remember password popups are fine. . When did this happen????? Every time I want a new window, or tab.. . Separate question: New version WILL NOT ask about pdf files. I can set save always. Fine. But if I set ask always it ALWAYS opens them in the browser : I HATE HATE HATE that. Tried to tell acrobat NOT IN THE BROWSER to no avail. . New look, er, ok. Actually I liked new window & home close to each other. :(

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

I found this problem was fixed when I disabled Personas and went back to a theme I have used for some time.

On one PC I had the issue until I disabled Tab Mix Plus. On another PC, I had to disable Tab Utilities. I think it has to do with add-ons, but I cannot figure out why.

I found that three of my add-ons cause this problem to happen.

  1. FireGesture 1.6.16
  2. Save Image 0.76
  3. Tab Mix Plus 0.4.02

Have to disable all three of them to solve it.
