How does one increase the number of entries in the location bar's drop-down menu list?

It appears as though the number of entries in the location bar's drop-down menu list is limited to twelve URLs. I find that it would be convenient if more than twelve could be shown, but don't know of a way to increase the number.

NOTE: The FasterFox extension can affect the number of items shown if you have it installed (Add-ons > Extensions).
