How to get active mixer devices working

I have no volume on my windows xp says no active mixer devices.

This appears to be a Windows or a hardware problem.

I have talked with microsoft help but they no longer support windows xp. I still have the problem with no sound so I don't know what I need to do.

Did you check the settings in Control Panel > Sound?
