I downloaded a video in a zip file, when it started the whole window went white. When I right click on the screen under properties it tells me it is a Firefox document. I rebooted to fix the problem and I saw a brief view of my wallpaper and desktop icons then back to the white screen. When I boot up or log in to the admin account (guest account is fine) I get a pure white screen. I cannot access any thing including the task bar. The only way out is to reboot and the problem repeats. I have booted with my anti virus program and it finds no problems. When I exit the anti virus program there is the brief view of the desktop and back to the white screen. HELP, I don't want to lose everything because I have to reload the OS.

I'm not sure what is happening.

What kind of video is this (which file extension)?

A video would normally be opened in a media player and not being associated to Firefox.
If you open such a file in Firefox then Firefox would render the file as a text file and if the file is large then it can take considerable time to make this text appear.
You won't see a video, so you need to use open with in the right-click context menu and open the video in a media player.

The file was a zip file, when opened it is a 13k HTML file named FBI.

I have tried booting from my OS cd and my anti virus cd, both of which have run properly and found no problems.

If it is an HTML file then you should be able to open this file in Firefox to see this web page. If it is an HTML file then it isn't a media file and you may have saved the page with the video instead.

All I have is a completely white screen. When I right click this screen and click properties I get the info I have mentioned, but that is all I can do, the white screen prevents any access to task bar, desktop icons or anything else.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.

Sounds like one of those Moneypak scams. BOOT INTO SAFE MODE with networking and scan with ALL of these below AV's (hopefully this dumb virus didn't disable it thru the registry).

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
