When I downloaded the current version 32 it will not open in a new window on FF when I request it to. It opens a whole new FF window.
It opens up a separate other FF window, not in the current FF on the screen. I have it set in Preferences to open in another window in the current FF, but another one pops up instead. Frustrating. I like it better the other way. I installed the Troubleshooter below and it is still the same. Nothing changed for me. Still opening the other "tab" as a Pop-up window. Any other suggestions? TIA Connie

In the options, Select tabs. Check if the option "Open new windows in a new tab instead" is selected. and then try again
Nope, it still didn't work and actually, I have done that several times and once again as you advised. Just weird because it just started yesterday and I downloaded the new 32.0 a couple of weeks ago. Don't understand why NOW it is starting to do this. Thanks, Connie
That looks like a pop-up window.
If you want to open this pop-up window in a new tab then see:
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.link.open_newwindow
- 1: current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab;
You want want to prevent websites from hiding toolbar components.
I'm stumped. I am still getting pop windows, not the tab I want on the browser. I have checked marked it to not allow pop ups but to no avail. Any suggestions? Connie
Okay, nothing suggested here so far has worked. I have pop-ups disabled and have open new windows in a tab instead, so what else could it be? Tired of a pop-up windows opening all the time.
Does this only happen on specific websites or with specific specific web pages that open a new window?
What are the current settings of these prefs on the about:config page?
- browser.link.open_newwindow
- browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction
Actually, I don't know but it is happening with Photobucket. I don't open much from many windows usually but it definitely happening with PB now and it never has before. We've been gone for several days and when we returned it looked with PB has updated it website but I wouldn't think that would affect Firefox. I'll keep a look out but I'm pretty sure now that you mention it that it doesn't open a new window with other site I click on but opens a new tab. Just frustrating when it happens and I know I haven't changed anything on my FF. Ooooh, btw, I'm on an iMac and not a PC. Thanks!
