Can I recover folders and subfolers?
In switching from Verizon to Comcast I did something that caused folders and sub-folders in Thunderbird to not appear. My address book was not affected.

Did you just lose the folder pane down the left side of the window?
From the Menu Bar select View-Layout-Folder Pane
No menu bar? Press the alt key.
If folder pane is already checked but not showing, move your mouse to the left margin of the window and watch for it to change to a double headed arrow. When it does left click, hold and drag to the right to uncover the folder pane.
