hi oscar5219, that sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc. please perform all those steps:
- reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
- afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
- finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware
Bookmark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
This was the only way I was able to set the startup page as a blank one (or any other page than one linked to services.freshy.com). The adware/malware was very persistent regardless of how many times I tried to reset defaults within the Options menu, including rebooting.
After the Refresh procedure, all your Bookmarks will still be organized as before but any add-ons previously installed must be re-installed. This may take a bit of time to locate them again, so I recommend printing the screen that lists your add-ons BEFORE refreshing. When you install each add-on, it would be wise to test browsing, open and closing FF a few times (before each one is added again) to be satisfied that the last add-on has not compromised your control of the FF browser.
The simple solution described has been extremely helpful and resolved my problem entirely.
Take a look at these;

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
