Serious startup problem. When I install on my mac, it opens, a white blank box comes down from toolbar and it locks. Downloaded several tim Same thing.
I have downloaded this several times, it opens and a white square box drops down from toolbar, it is blank and the entire window locks up . All the subjects on the toolbar close and it just says Firefox -- and the only thing I can do is quit. I'm on a mac 10.6.8.

You can check if it works better if start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
