Although all cookies are blocked in Firefox 36, the Storage Inspector panel shows that some sites still put cookies in my browser. These cookies are only visible in the Storage Inspector panel and not in the Cookies window accessible through the Privacy tab of the Options window. As far as I could see up to now this happens only for certain sites such as Amazon, Youtube, Dailymotion, Mozilla Support etc.

Can anyone please explain why the Storage Inspector shows cookies while the Cookies window doesn't show anything?

Thank you.

When are these cookies from, and how long ago did you change this setting to not accept cookies?

It is possible to see these dates in about:cache

Note that the storage inspector shows more than cookies and also includes third-party cookies from other domains. You always need to remove existing cookies when you make changes to allow/block lifetime settings for a domain or allow/block third-party cookies.

Extensions that manage cookies can complicate this.
