from the read messages prompt, it will not open the inbox... many attemps but no response

older version on 90yr old mothers acct.. after opening thunderbird shortcut the page with read messages, write messages etc comes up. when double clicking on read msgs it does not open so inbox is not available

"Read messages"? Where is that?

If you can't see a list of folders in the left-hand pane, hold down <alt>, tap v to see the View menu, then go to Layout, and then select Folder Pane.
