I will be on a web page, and after using the search box, the searched items will come up in a grid -- photos with descriptions. Then I will get a message that there is an unresponsive script, and then the top row of photos changes from products to miniature ads for questionable products. This happens across many web sites, not just one. For example, I have been searching for a file cabinet, and this happens on Staples.com, OfficeDepot.com, Wayfair.com, Overstock.com, etc. Screen shot attached.

In tiny print, it says "Ads By MediaPlayer", so that one definitely has to go!

Looks like the screen shot did not upload, but you can attach it to a reply.

Meanwhile, I think you probably have a bad add-on. Please try disabling all of your extensions.

Open Firefox's Add-ons page using either:

  • Command+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

I was really hopeful after removing a "shop at home" add-on, but it is still the same. All of my other Add-ons look like they need to stay -- can you advise? Adobe Acrobat Create PDF 1.2; Media Player 3.3.2; MP3skull toolbar initial.rev196.1; Verizon Point Builder 1.402. I'll try attaching the screen shot again here.

I would disable all of them except Adobe Acrobat Create PDF. None of those others come with Firefox or would normally be found on your system with Apple software. I suspect they were hidden bundle items that snuck in with something free.
