How to prevent Flash from crashing instantly (occurs even if I'm in Safe Mode and have disabled other plugins)?

I've tried installing Firefox again, installing Flash again (firefox confirms that it's up to date), opening in the safe mode, disabled all other plugins.

I'm running out of ideas. Flash just crashes (sometimes firefox doesn't even seem to recognize the crash and there's almost never a report to send) when I've spent around 5 seconds in a flash object. Literally one click will make it crash.

Is this a new problem? The reason I ask is that Adobe maintains an extended support release of the Flash player, which is 13.something. If you cannot get Flash 18 to work correctly in Firefox, you could uninstall Flash and get that older version.

The Flash support article has a link to the uninstaller.

This page has the extended support version (scroll down about 60% of the way and find the one for plugin-based browsers): https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Installing the stable version fixed this.

Still leaves something to wonder about what's so drasticly changed in a simple patch that the whole plugin crashes with a single click...
