How can I get rid of the righthand scrollbar being on all the time?
Using Firefox on Windows 8, a webpage containing a frame which has long text in it displays a white scrollbar. The same page does not show the scrollbar when using Firefox on a MAC. I've tried a number of things inclucing going into about:config and turning off the always display scrollbars entry but nothing seems to work. In other browsers I've tested no scrollbar is always present on this webpage. Does anyone know of a way I can have this scrollbar not appear except when the text is being scrolled? Thanks in advance.

Two thoughts:
(1) The latest or possibly the last two versions of MacOS X have a system-level feature that fades scroll bars if you aren't using them, and then shows them while you are scrolling, or something along those lines. We've had complaints about it here from time to time.
(2) Firefox does not allow coloring the scroll bars like some other browers, so other browsers may have a transparent bar that matches the background, but Firefox will use the default color and widgets associated with your theme regardless of what the site specifies.
A different browser on Windows also shows a scroll bar (attached screen shot).

I can't test it in Mac OSX - don't have a Mac. But on Windows 7 / Firefox 38.0.5 the page is being displayed as written. The main body of that page has a fixed "viewport" width of 960px, thus the white space with a wider screen resolution. And further down in the source code there is a "height" set to 1000px - which appears to be for that "frame".
Probably displays better on a tablet or a desktop with the monitor turned 90 degrees (tall, narrow "portrait") rather than "widescreen" or "Landscape".

Didn't think of providing a screenshot before. Here's what I see when Firefox is set for 1192px width and 680px height, my normal settings for viewing my most used websites.
Two screenshots - the first with the page scroll at the top and the 2nd with it dragged all the way down. Both showing the white borders that result with the "viewport" set for 960px width.
Thanks. That's a bummer. Attached is Firefox on my MAC with no scrollbars showing. Two thumbs up for MAC and two thumbs down for Windows. ;-) I appreciate you answering the question for me.
