I recently uninstalled Firefox and downloaded it again. I was having trouble with Firefox and thought it might be corrupted. After a new installation Firefox worked fine. I just got a warning that my network was vulnerable and there was a security patch recommended. I deleted the message and didn't download the patch. I have searched the Mozilla support but can't find any info on the "patch". The question is is the patch recommendation legitimate?

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org. {web link}

You can also report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery

Is there any way to check on recommended Mozilla updates or security updates? Will Mozilla send an update announcement or just update the browser when you load Firefox?

Firefox will normally download and install updates automatically if you haven't modified the settings in "Tools > Options > Advanced > Updates". You can manually check for updates via "Help > About".
